EDITORIAL
Lately we have faced a personnel change in the editorial
board of IJVM. Prof. A. Shimshony has resigned
from his post as co-editor and Dr. Trevor Waner
has replaced him.
Prof. Shimshony served as co-editor for the last 3 years,
but as of late his professional obligations,
mainly in the international organisations have
prevented him from full scale activities on the
editorial board, and he requested to be
released. As his co- editor I enjoyed his
collaboration in editing the journal. His
professional and critical advice was of utmost
importance both in our mutual work in IJVM and also
previously, when Prof. Shimshony served as the
director of the Israel Veterinary Services and I
served under him as head of the Kimron
Veterinary Institute. I do hope we shall
continue to benefit from his knowledge whenever
it will be required.
On behalf of the entire editorial board I express our deep
gratitude to Prof. Shimshony for his
contribution and wish him many more fruitful
years of activity.
His successor, Dr. Waner is well known to readers of the
journal as an author of many scientific
articles. Now, in his capacity as co-editor, his
additional role will surely contribute to the
quality of the journal and its recognition
internationally.
In the current issue you will find a report written by Dr.
B. Sharir et al. concerning the medical
treatment of farm animals which were injured by
rocket blasts in the Second Lebanon War
(July-August 2006).
In a letter to the editor, Dr. H. Yadin et al. describe the
epidemiological, diagnostic, and clinical
features of the recent outbreak of EHD in dairy
cattle in Israel.
In addition to the review and original articles we have
included selected abstracts from the 3rd Annual
Meeting of the Israeli Association of Veterinary
Microbiology and Immunology.
I do hope you will find the current issue interesting and
enlightening.
